Hertfordshire Digital Awards - Finalists!
We're Finalists! On Thursday 21st of September we'll find out if we've done what it takes to take home a Bronze, Silver or Gold win from the Hertfordshire Digital Awards. After a rigorous judging period, Fluid Studios has been announced as finalists in 3 website design categories including; Best Busuiness to Business (B2B) Website with SEC Group, Best Creative and Marketing Website with Big Reach Marketing and Best Tourism and Hospitality Website with Studley House Farm.
What does this mean?
It means that it is now more important than ever to have responsive design on your website, not only because users will be able to see instantly from their Google search whether your website is going to work on their phone (and they’re likely not to bother if it doesn’t). But also because Google is going to list ‘mobile-friendly’ websites higher on the result list i.e. if your website isn’t optimised for mobiles you may start to rank lower on Google.
How do I know if my website is mobile-friendly?
Well it’s all down to GoogleBot and it will detect whether your website meets the following criteria:
- Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash
- Uses text that is readable without zooming
- Sizes content to the screen so users don't have to scroll horizontally or zoom
- Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped
Not sure what any of this means? You can run your website through Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test and it will analyse for you whether your site meets their criteria.
